U.S. export of 267K barrels of oil to China called rare event

The United States exported an average of 9,000 barrels of oil a day to China in January, more than was exported to the Asian country in the past decade, according to the Energy Information Administration. The anomaly stands out because historically, 98 percent of exported oil goes to Canada and small amounts go to other countries such as Costa Rica, France, Japan and South Korea.
