*Terming bilateral relations between India and China as "absolutely perfect", Chief of Army General Bikram Singh has said that mechanisms are in place to solve any issues between the two countries and that there was no need to withdraw Indian troops from Siachen.*
"We have peace and tranquillity on the border and at the line of control", Singh said, speaking on the sidelines of the passing-out parade at the Indian Naval Academy here yesterday.
In the wake of leadership changes in China, Singh said that the "bilateral relations between the two countries (India and China) were absolutely perfect".
Pointing that there was no need to withdraw Indian forces from Siachen, he said, "the
country's armed forces are strategically positioned at an advantageous situation in the Siachen," and it was upto the government to decide on a pull out.
Earlier, Singh reviewed the passing-out parade of cadets of the 15th Naval Orientation (regular) Course.
Steps were being taken to attract more youths to the Army, he said.
As many as 219 cadets, including 50 from Coast Guard, passed out on completion of their 22-week training. Reported by Deccan Herald 6 hours ago.
